The First XV finally broke their duck with a 10-5 win at home to Pontyclun. Whilst there was inevitable nerves in the closing stages the home side clinched a deserved victory, Tom Wheeler scoring the only try of the match for the Illts.
4 min sides played on Sunday, the 16s put in much improved performance at home to Bargoed, losing 34-14 but showing some great defence and winning the second half 14-12 - great to see progress boys are making. The minis all played at Canton, the 9s were slightly short of players as a number of the boys were ill during the week but played some great rugby in a narrow defeat to the home side. The 8s played a round robin with Canton and Llanrumney, showing great improvement particularly in defence, finishing level with Canton and losing 2-0 to a very good Llanrumney side.Pride of place went to the 7s, who split into 2 teams and played 2 teams and played 2 teams from Canton and came away with 4 wins. Some fantastic rugby from the all of the sides across the morning.
