One that got away!

The Old Illts travelled to Pontyclun in good spirits after an excellent home win against Aberdare last time out, but the good feeling didn’t last as the home side ran out 24-9 winners. The Illts will wonder how they managed to come away with nothing from a game where they had probably 75% of possession and territory, with some of the fallibilities that have blighted the season returning, with an inability to finish chances and lack of composure in the red zone costing them dearly. Credit most also got to the home side who defended superbly, and provided a lesson in taking chances with 2 well worked tries on pretty much the only visits the made to the Illts 22, coupled with a kick and chase try from 70 metres after a misplaced pass in the first half and a well struck penalty early in the second. Fly half Sean Cochlin kicked 3 penalties for the visitors only points. Back row men Scott Britton and Joe Poole were outstanding for the Illts.

Massive home game next week now against Clwb Rygbi, please try and get down to Moorland Park to cheer the boys on
