The Illts started 2016 with a win in atrocious conditions at Moorland Park. The power of the Illts pack was ultimately the key, with 2 pushover tries taking Tom Wheelers tally to an unbelievable 19 for the season. Taylor Direen scored the other try in a rare outbreak of quality rugby, applying a neat finish after Neil Dallimore, Josh Harris and Andrew Maunder had made the initial inroads.
A second half try from the visitors ensured they left with a losing bonus point which was deserved, as both sides tried their best to play despite the field and weather.
With the weather meaning Penybanc Bangor was postponed for a third time, the Illts will have no game next week so are hoping to arrange a friendly to give the boys a run out.
