Not as much rugby as we hoped this month, with one of the wettest Octobers in memory playing havoc with pitches and subsequently matches for all our teams.
Only 2 first team games survived, a hard fought 14-12 win away at Pentyrch and a disappointing 24-23 defeat at home to Clwb Rygbi, who played the wet conditions much better on the day.
Our second team managed to get their first game of the season, with a mix of veterans and youth battling to a 26-22 win away at St Albans in a great game of rugby.
A similar story for our youth, with only 2 games surviving the weather. An agonising 16-15 defeat at home to Llantwit Major and a tough away game at Llandaff. The boys continue to improve and are showing really good attitude.
The minis fixtures also took a hammering, with a couple of games surviving for the older ages away at Penarth and at home to Llandaff North, and just one for the younger ages away at Caerau for a RR with Rumney.
Off the field there have been some really positive developments, with the unveiling of our new scoreboard at Moorland Park. A huge thank you to Dragon Taxis and Fordthorne Cardiff for sponsoring, the scoreboard looks great!
Our RWC mini recruitment drive was a great success, with 12 new players recruited during the tournament - a big thank you to all of the parents who helped bring new players along and to Llyr at Eastern High School who has been a tremndous help recruiting year 7 players for our u12s. The prize draw for the Barbarians tickets will take place this week. We are still recruiting boys and girls for school years ages 1-7 so get in touch if you have a child interested in trying rugby
Looking at the month ahead, a tough run of games for the first team with Pontyclun, Canton and Tylorstown to play - the youth have 2 home games scheduled with the 2nd round of the Swalec Bowl and a league game against Llanharan, and a full month of minis fixtures. Lets hope for kinder weather and come on the Illts!
